Plant a Tree
Chinese officials are planting thousands of trees in the wastelands north of Beijing to prevent the desert from expanding, but you do not have to go to a desert to plant a tree.
Just do it in your backyard or, better yet, get together with your neighbors and rejuvenate a local park or forest. It's a real long-term investment. Every grown-up tree provides enough oxygen for two people. (Photo: Reuters)
