The financial industry plays a pivotal role in helping to mitigate the effects of climate change and steer the world towards clean energy. WWF and Allianz want to cooperate further to develop new tools for climate risk assessment, and show how leading financial companies can help manage the transition to a clean energy economy.

We think that financial services companies should develop more appropriate financing packages for renewable energy projects and technologies, as part of a strategy of switching their investments as a whole to a much lower carbon intensity portfolio. And they should review how the power companies plan for impacts of climate policy on their core business.
