Calendar 11. June | Guardian Climate Summit on Adaptation and Mitigation The UK newspaper The Guardian holds a one day climate summit on how to prepare for, and combat climate change. The meeting, held in London, will deal with how businesses can prepare for the impact climate change will have on business models, how resources can be invested climate friendly, how to run a low carbon economy, how to involve consumers and employees through effective communication etc. > more
17. June | World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought The World Day is meant to create public awareness for the risks associated with ongoing desertification. It is backed by the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD). The legally binding treaty had first been called for at the Rio Earth Conference in 1992. It was adopted in 1994 and came into force in 1996. By now, 191 countries have ratified the text. > more
