Wind Power Potential Worldwide
Wind Potential in Europe (1/6)
The British Isles, Denmark, and the Atlantic coasts of Holland, Belgium, and France have some of the best sites for wind energy generation in Europe. The maps are based on wind speeds at a height of 80 meters, the size of most utility-scale wind turbines.

Wind Power Potential Worldwide
Wind Potential in Asia (2/6)
The best sites for wind in Asia are to be found in Taiwan, the eastern coast of mainland China, Japan, and the Japanese Ryukyu Island archipelago. A few sites in northern Russia along the Arctic Ocean also have strong winds. (Graphic: Archer and Jacobsen, 2005)

Wind Power Potential Worldwide
Wind Potential in Africa (3/6)
There are relatively few sites with very strong winds on the African continent, though some viable sites are to be found in Morocco, Western Sahara, Egypt, Kenya, South Africa, and Madagascar. The biggest cluster of high-potential wind sites os located around the Canary Islands. (Graphic: Archer and Jacobsen, 2005)

Wind Power Potential Worldwide
Wind Potential in North America (4/6)
The United States and Canada have many sites with very high wind potential, particularly on the northwestern coasts of Vancouver and Alaska, the North Atlantic shores of Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.
Lots of good sites also exist along the eastern seaboard of the United States and on the windswept Midwest plains. (Graphic: Archer and Jacobsen, 2005)

Wind Power Potential Worldwide
Wind Potential in South America (5/6)
Small wonder why the early European navigators had trouble rounding the southern tip of South America. It is extremely windy, particularly in the Tierra del Fuego and Falkland Islands. Good sites are also to be found in Chile, Venezuela, and the West Indies. (Graphic: Archer and Jacobsen, 2005)

Wind Power Potential Worldwide
Wind Potential in Australasia (6/6)
Australia is relatively rich in wind resources, with the highest concentration of good sites found in Tasmania, the coast of Queensland, southern Victoria, Kangaroo Island, and the southwestern corner of Western Australia. Many good sites also exist on the coasts of New Zealand. (Graphic: Archer and Jacobsen, 2005)
