World Environment Day
Where: Global / Mexico
This year’s theme for World Environment Day is 'Your Planet Needs You–UNite to Combat Climate Change' to reflect the urgency for nations to agree on a new deal at the crucial climate convention meeting in Copenhagen later this year. World Environment Day is annually observed on June 5 to stimulate worldwide awareness of the environment and to enhance political attention and action. It was established by the UN General Assembly in 1972 to mark the opening of the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment. Every year, a different country hosts World Environment Day celebrations. This year, Mexico will be the host.

Latin America-Caribbean Regional Microcredit Summit
Where: Cartagena, Colombia
From June 6 to 8, the Latin America-Caribbean Regional Microcredit Summit will take place in Cartagena, Colombia. About 1,000 delegates from 40 countries are expected to attend this event. The summit will offer the opportunity for microcredit practitioners, advocates, investors, donors, and others committed to the summit’s goals to assess progress, discuss challenges to achieving the new goals for 2015, and identify strategies for overcoming those challenges. Keynote speakers include Prof. Muhammad Yunus, Managing Director of the Grameen Bank, and Alvaro Uribe, President of Colombia.

World Economic Forum on Africa
Where: Cape Town, South Africa
From June 10 to 12, Cape Town, South Africa, will host the World Economic Forum on Africa. Under the theme "Implications of the Global Economic Crisis for Africa", participants of the Forum will address the global and regional implications of the crisis, discuss the impact of the crisis on Africa’s traditional drivers of growth including foreign investment, demand for oil and commodities, and infrastructure development, and develop a new roadmap for Africa’s future. Co-Chairs will be Kofi Annan (President, Global Humanitarian Forum and Member of the Foundation Board of the World Economic Forum) and Jiang Jianging, Chairman of the Board, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China.

Global Wind Day
This year, the European Wind Day will go global, becoming the Global Wind Day, a worldwide awareness campaign for the promotion of wind energy. Thousands of public events will be organized simultaneously around the world to inform about wind power as a solution to climate change and energy dependence on fossil fuels. The organizers also launched a photo contest.

World Economic Forum on East Asia
Where: Seoul, Republic of Korea
From June 18 to19, the World Economic Forum on East Asia will take place under the theme "Implications of the Global Economic Crisis for East Asia". Global leaders from business, government, and academia will discuss Asia’s role in reshaping the post-economic crisis world, focusing on the revitalization of a distressed global economy, and the balance between environmental protection and energy and food security.

World Conference on Disaster Management
The World Conference on Disaster Management (WCDM) will take place in Toronto, Canada from June 21-24. This year's conference has a special focus on pandemic planning, climate change, natural disasters, and the economic crisis. It brings together experts, practitioners, certifying bodies, service, and product suppliers for emergency management, business continuity and other disaster management disciplines.
