7. July | G8 Hokkaido Toyako Summit

The 34th G8 Summit will take place in Hokkaido, Japan, from July 7 to 9. Under Japan's presidency, the Summit will focus on environment and climate change, world economy, and development. Japan aims to strengthen positive trends in Africa and promotes efforts towards the Millennium Development Goals.

11. July | World Population Day

For 17 years, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has promoted awareness about human rights and population issues on World Population Day. This year’s theme “Men At Work” focuses on men’s involvement and participation in family life. This includes maternal health, caring for babies, parenting, and educating daughters. 28. July | Asia-Pacific Regional Microcredit Summit 2008

From July 28 to 30, the Asia-Pacific Regional Microcredit Summit 2008 will take place in Bali, Indonesia. The summit offers a platform to discuss challenges and develop strategies to achieve the Campaign’s 2015 goals. Among speakers of the Summit are Mr. Fazle Hasan Abed, 2007 Inaugural Clinton Global Citizen Award winner and Muhammad Yunus, 2006 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and Founder and Managing Director of Grameen Bank.
