3. June | High-Level Conference on World Food Security and the Challenges of Climate Change and Bioenergy
From June 3 to 5, the headquarters of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Rome, Italy, will host the Conference on World Food Security and the Challenges of Climate Change and Bioenergy. The meeting will address food security and poverty reduction related to climate change and energy security. FAO member countries, relevant inter-governmental organizations, NGOs, and other institutions are invited to attend.

5. June | World Environment Day
Every year on June 5th, World Environment Day draws worldwide attention to environmental problems and enhances political attention and action. Under this year's slogan "Melting Ice – a Hot Topic?" the event focuses on the effects that climate change is having on polar ecosystems and communities, and the consequences around the world.
The main celebrations will take place in Tromso, Norway. Many other cities will celebrate World Environment Day with street rallies, bicycles parades, green concerts, clean-up campaigns and much more.

8. June | World Ocean Day
Started by a handful of Aquariums in the U.S., the Ocean Project initiated World Ocean Day in 1992 at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. World Ocean Day promotes the protection and conservation of our oceans and its species. Today, the Ocean Project helps its global network of zoos, aquariums, and museums to educate their visitors about the importance of the Earth’s Oceans and its species and coordinates events and activities on World Ocean Day. 14. June | Expo Zaragoza 2008: Water and Sustainable Development
From June 14 to September 14, Zaragoza, Spain, will host a three-month public exhibition about “Water and Sustainable Development”. With 102 participating countries, the focus of the exhibition will be on worldwide water resources, sustainable and efficient use of water, and water management. The large exhibition area will feature a water park, theme shows and interactive displays for its expected 10,000 visitors a day.

23. June | World Cities Summit 2008
The World Cities Summit 2008 will be held in Singapore from June 23 to 25. The theme of this year’s conference will be “Liveable and Vibrant Cities” with a focus on urban infrastructure development, economic competitiveness, and environmental stability. Taking place at the same time as Singapore International Water Week, events will also focus on sustainable water solutions for cities. 24. June | International Conference on Groundwater and Climate in Africa
From Juna 24 to 28, Kampala, Uganda, will host the International Conference on Groundwater and Climate in Africa. Scientists and representatives from international agencies will attend the conference that focuses on groundwater resources in Africa and the impact of climate variability. Organized by the University College London (UK), UNESCO’s International Hydrological Programme, and the Directorate of Water Development of Uganda, the conference seeks to provide a platform to share knowledge and expertise.

24. June | Seventh World Wind Energy Conference and Exhibition
From June 24 to 26, Kingston, Canada, will host the Seventh World Wind Energy Conference and Exhibition. While the conference will address renewable energy technologies for electricity generation, the exhibition will showcase innovative technologies, organizations, and companies. The theme of the conference, “Community Power”, refers to the ownership and development of renewable energy projects by local communities. Keynote Speakers will include Alternative Nobel Prize Winner Hermann Scheer and environmentalist David Suzuki.

30. June | Decoupling Growth from Environmental Impact
The conference held in Nottingham, United Kingdom, will cover novel approaches emerging from the academic and research knowledge base and the industrial application of innovative technology. The overall theme for the event is decoupling economic growth from environmental impact; addressing the unsustainable use of resources and breaking the link between economic growth, the waste of resources and adverse environmental impact.
