4. March | Asia Pacific Region Microcredit Summit

The Microcredit Summit Campaign and Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund will co-host the Asia/Pacific Region Microcredit Summit 2008 at the Jinnah Convention Center in Islamabad, Pakistan on March 4-6.

4. March | International Renewable Energy Conference 2008

The International Renewable Energy Conference 2008 will be held in Washington from March 4 to 6. Energy ministers, representatives from international organizations, and business representatives from the renewable energy industry will discuss new technologies, energy security, air quality, and agriculture and rural development. Aside from the Ministerial meeting and the business conference, a trade show exhibition and other side events are scheduled.

14. March | G8 Ministerial Dialogue on Climate Change and Clean Energy

From March 14 to 16, Chiba, Japan, will host the G8 Ministerial Meeting of environment and energy ministers from the world’s 20 major greenhouse gas emitting countries. NGOs and representatives from international organizations will join them to discuss emission reduction obligations, certificates for renewable energy, automotive fuel cells, and carbon offsetting.  Outcomes will be reported  at the G8 Summit in Hokkaido in July.

22. March | World Water Day

Sanitation will be the theme of World Water Day 2008. Since 1992, the UN General Assembly designates March 22 as World Water Day to draw attention to the lack of clean and safe drinking water worldwide.
